President's Update — February 2021
Dear KSF Community,
As we move into 2021, I want to take a moment to reflect on what our community has accomplished together — and share where we are headed.
2020: A Year of Resilience
Despite the challenges presented by the past year, our community showed up in extraordinary ways. Our 2020 Annual Gala & Fundraiser raised $70,000 — a remarkable achievement under any circumstances, and one that speaks to the deep commitment our supporters have for Kent's students.
Those funds are now being deployed directly into classrooms across the Kent School District, supporting teachers and students who have navigated an unprecedented academic year.
What We Funded
Even amid school building closures and remote learning, KSF continued to award grants that adapted to the new reality:
- Virtual learning tools for teachers transitioning to online instruction
- At-home science kits distributed to students without access to labs
- Social-emotional learning resources addressing student wellbeing
- Technology access support for families with limited devices
Our 2021 Priorities
Looking ahead, KSF is focused on three areas:
- Recovery and acceleration — funding projects that help students catch up on lost learning
- Mental health and wellbeing — supporting programs that address the social and emotional toll of the pandemic
- Equity — ensuring our grants reach schools and classrooms with the greatest need
Thank You
To our donors, volunteers, board members, and community partners: thank you. You made it possible for KSF to serve Kent's students even in the hardest year many of us have experienced.
Every dollar you give stays in Kent. Every grant funds a real classroom, a real teacher, a real student.
With gratitude,
KSF Board President Kent Schools Foundation
